And the noise of the radios and the eternal shouting. Are they all deaf or something? Where is this glamorous East they talk about? It´s just a horrible sweating travesty of Europe. And I haven´t met a soul I can talk to.
Victor: "We´re together. We can talk to each other."
Fanella: "Why should we have to come out here to do that? It was more comfortable in London."

Una pena que el libro sea difícil de encontrar en España porque es realmente divertido. Lo he buscado en La Casa del Libro y en la Fnac, así como en otras librerías más pequeñas, y no he tenido suerte en ninguna. Trata sobre un matrimonio inglés que se instala en Malasia durante los años cincuenta cuando ésta era aún colonia británica y, estoy seguro que, cualqueira que viva o haya vivido por aquí se sentirá ampliamente identificado con la historia y sus personajes. Yo mismo suscribiría cualquiera de las posturas del texto de arriba, unas veces soy Victor y otras veces, no me queda más remedio, Fanella.
